Announcing the Police Pagan Association Trans Inclusion Policy
We are proud to announce the publication of our new Trans Inclusion Policy, a document setting out how the Police Pagan Association (PPA) will continue to support trans inclusion within the current legal framework.
We recognise that the current complex machinations within UK legislation and recent legal developments- such as the UK Supreme Court judgment in April 2025 – have caused understandable concern and anxiety among trans communities. At a time of significant uncertainty for many individuals, it is crucial that our organisation provides clarity, reassurance, and a firm commitment to inclusion.
Despite these legislative complexities, our message is clear: the PPA recognises, values, and supports all trans and non-binary persons, and we will continue to do so. We affirm the inherent dignity, worth, and humanity of trans and non-binary people. The Police Pagan Association is fully committed to being an inclusive, respectful, and safe space for all Pagan and Heathen police officers, staff, volunteers, and allies.
Our newly published policy is grounded in UK law, trauma-informed safeguarding best practices, and core policing values. It reinforces that trans people continue to be protected from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation under the Equality Act 2010. Through this document, we make it absolutely clear that we do not adopt blanket exclusions, and we reject any behaviour that undermines dignity, including misgendering, intrusive questioning, or hostile debates. Furthermore, trans people are welcome to fully participate in all PPA events, rituals, and gatherings in line with their lived gender.
We firmly believe that inclusive practice strengthens, rather than weakens, the communities we represent and the service we support. To all our trans members and allies: you are a valued part of our community, and we will continue to stand with you.
